- Delewyn L. Schnaufer, 68, of Geneseo, passed away Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at the Hammond-Henry Hospital emergency room.
Visitation for Delewyn will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug.11, at Vandemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Geneseo. A private graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo, with Deacon Tom Wachtel officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Delewyn L. Schnaufer Memorial Fund.
Delewyn was born Aug. 5, 1941, in Geneseo, son of Glen J. and Vera M. McCoy Schnaufer. He was a 1959 graduate of Geneseo High School and attended Bradley University. He was united in marriage to Barbara Franz on Nov. 29, 1963. He later was united in marriage to Christine L. Wilson on Dec. 18, 1976, in Milan.
Delewyn had been employed at the John Deere Foundry for 30 years in methods engineering, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Geneseo. He received the highest honor you can receive in the De Molay. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, Indian artifacts, listening to the Sunday Morning Jazz Patio, and was a avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Delewyn was a loving and devoted husband and father.
Survivors include his wife, Christine; a son, Scott Schnaufer, Geneseo; his mother-in-law, Louise Wilson, Geneseo; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
