MARION-Elbert McCree, 87, of Marion passed from this life to his heavenly home on November 21, 2005 at 8:30 PM at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 26, 2005 at the All Nations Church of God, north of Marion with Reverend Tony Holley and Pastor R. G. Null officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, November 25, 2005 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Burial will be at Maplewood Cemetery, Marion.
Mr. McCree was born on October 13, 1918 in Williamson County, Illinois to Dennis and Lena (Newell) McCree. He married Ivoleen Brayfield on June 23, 1949 and she survives.
Other survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Scott D. and Judy McCree of Marion, Gregory M. and Lori McCree of Carterville, Douglas and Cindy McCree of Marion, and Paul and Cathy McCree of Marion; grandchildren, Shelly and Kevin Dunaway, Lisa and Walter Skeate, Aaron McCree, Austin McCree, Evan McCree, Josh McCree and fianc?, Charily Hancock, Alex McCree, Jonathan and Kelly McCree, Quentin McCree and fianc?, Austin Goings, and Whitney and Nathan Brauner; great grandchildren, Jake Hunter Dunaway, Ally Ann Dunaway and Lily Anna Brauner; brother, John McCree; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Ealey, Norma Gordon, and Elva and Gene Anderson; sisters-in-law, Mary Lee McCree, Zella Mae McCree, Minnie McCree, and Shirley McCree; brother-in-law, Jerry Draeger; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alvin, Woodrow, Herschel, Willis, Dennis, Jr., and Donald McCree; sisters, Ines Stephens, Dorothy Draeger, Wanda Meneese, and Eva McCree; brothers-in-law, Carl Stephens, Rollie Meneese, Bill Gordon, and Jim Ealey; and sisters-in-law, Alice McCree and Reba McCree.
Mr. McCree was a member of All Nations Church of God, north of Marion. He served his country in World War II in the United States Army, where he was awarded the Purple Heart.
