Comments: This is one of our more elaborate property deeds, from the year 1800. It describes the sale of a piece of land in Shawangunk, New York, once belonging to the late Lewis Gasherie. Here, executors of his last will and testament sell his property, which is quaintly described by such phrases as being near a "piece of low land" and "the mouth of a ditch or gulley." The deed is completely handwritten, is three pages long, has a scalloped top, and three thumbprints of the executors pressed into wax seals.
