Marian A. Keag, 86, of Geneseo, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 11th at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory, Geneseo. Per her request, Cremation Rites have been accorded. Inurnment for Marian and her late husband Dale will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo, where Military Honors will be accorded for Dale by Don Cherry VFW Post #5083. Visitation will be 1 hour prior (10-11 am) to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian-Church Meals on Wheels or Hillcrest Home.
Marian was born on that historic day of the “first” stock market crash, on October 29, 1929 in Davenport, IA, the daughter of Irad and Flora (Blankenfeld) Asher. She was a direct descendant of some of the first settlers of Scott County, IA. She attended Davenport and Geneseo schools. She was united in marriage to Dale Keag on December 14, 1947 at the First Presbyterian Church in Geneseo. He preceded her in death in 2005. She was a ward secretary at the former Lutheran Hospital in Moline, IL for many years and also at the Lutheran Hospital in Mesa, AZ.
Marian was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Geneseo, for over 68 years, and believed strongly in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She belonged to the Presbyterian Church Ladies Circle and was a founding member of Meals on Wheels. Marian enjoyed bowling and making crafts, as well as hiking, reading, and traveling.
She is survived by her children: Maureen “Mo” Walker (Dennis Smith) of Brush, CO, Steven (Linda) Keag of Bettendorf, IA, and Jeffery (Linda) Keag of Geneseo; grandchildren: Paula Chiolero, Brian Keag, Jason McKay, and Tim Keag; 10 great grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, and numerous step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and 1 sister.
