CHILLICOTHE -- Mary Jane Placher, 83, of 25 Pinewood Estates died at 5 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Heritage Manor in Chillicothe.
Born Dec. 31, 1918, in St. Paul, Minn., to Clayton and Martha Boneschans Champion, she married Lyle Bodie in February 1936.
She later married Joseph E. Placher on June 18, 1948, in Galesburg. He died Dec. 16, 1980.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers.
Surviving are three sons, David (and Shannon) Bodie of Eldon, Mo., John (and Jeanette) Placher of Louisville, Ky., and Phillip (and Debbie) Placher of Dunlap; four daughters, Jo Ann Oakhem of Turlock, Calif., Mrs. George (Darlene) Herman of East Peoria, Mrs. Doug (Margo) Johnson of Lawrence, Kan., and Mrs. Don (Martha) Kramer of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one stepgranddaughter; two stepgreatgranddaughters; and one sister, Isabel Anderson of Hudson, Wis.
She was a member of Princeville Saddle Club, Peoria County Home Extension and was a 20-year volunteer with the Proctor Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.
She was a member of Rome Baptist Church in Rome, where services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. William Carter will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery in Dunlap. Arrangements are by Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon.
Memorials may be made to her church or Methodist Hospice.
