George Fritts
Birth: 1753
Death: 1845
Husband of Mary Wilson Fritts. Oldest son of Wooldrich & Janet Fritz, he was born in Shenandoah Co, VA., moved with his parents to NC where he was living at the out-break of the Revolutionary War. (Brother John (1762) also served in Rev. War. alongside their father.) George was co-executor with his mother Janet, of his father's estate in 1783.
George was a successful farmer and owned several tracts of land, well over 700 acres, which included what is today part of Lexington. In 1815 he purchased from Michael & Margaret Beard the Beard's Mill along with 253 acres which later became known as the Frittz Mill on Abbotts Creek.
George & Mary had 11 children, 5 daughters and 6 sons, all born in Davidson Co: Rachel, Mary, Hannah, Sarah, Catherine, John, Adam, George, Reuben, Joseph, and William....as listed in his will. Hannah was then deceased, but provision were made for "her body heirs". George died March 1845.
