Full Obituary: JOHN MARTIN SLAUGHTER, Age 66, died Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at his home in Charleston. Born May 22, 1947, at East Prairie, MO, son of the late John D. and Grace Edna Hodges Slaughter, he had lived in Charleston most of his life where he had been employed with Hall Transportation Company as a dispatcher until his retirement. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Surviving is: two sons, David Slaughter of Cape Girardeau and Bryant Slaughter of Hempstead, TX; an adopted son, Mike Kimble; three sisters, Delores Wallace and Etta Rudden both of St. Louis and Debbie Howard of Murray, KY; three grandchildren, Clayton Oliver Slaughter, Carrington Olivia Slaughter and Lexington Brooke Slaughter. Also his beloved dogs, Sadie and Scoobie. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ricky Slaughter and one sister, Rachel Haney. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m, Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Stanley Triplett of East Prairie, will officiate. Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston with full military rites provided by the U.S. Army and the Missouri Military Honors Program. Pallbearers will be, Todd Palmer, Sam Howard, Andy Bryant, Derek Magee, John Hall, James Hall, Jeff Hall, Jr, and Devon Arnold.
